Our Carpentry program gives the apprentices a valuable head start in the trade, as well as an opportunity to practice their craft as they enter the workforce. This is an apprenticeship program delivered using Alberta Apprenticeship curriculum and guidlines to ensure quality training. This is a combination of theory and shop apprenticeship and industry training to become a skilled tradesperson. You MUST be a registered apprentice with Alberta Industry Training (http://www.tradesecrets.gov.ab.ca) to register for this class. We need your apprentice ID number (the one from your Blue Book) to accept your registration.


Period 1 Carpentry:


Apprentices are trained in safety, building materials, hand and power tools, site preparation and building layout, foundation, floor frame and estimating and drawing.



  • 8 weeks

  • Monday-Friday

  • 40 hours per week


Carpentry Apprenticeship Guide:



  • 4 years (four 12-month periods)

  • Minimum of 1560 hours on-the-job training each year

  • 8 weeks of technical training each year (Period 1-4)

  • 40 hours per week in class. Combination of Theory and Shop

  • Upon Sucessful completion of Period 4 - Journeyperson Certificate 

  • Upon Sucessful completion of Interprovincial Exam in Period 4 - Granted Red Seal
