Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) Program 

Floorcovering Installer Apprenticeship Program Period 2

Training Open to all Registered Apprentices
*UBC Members & Non-Members are welcome to attend all AIT Apprenticeship Training at our facilities

Our Floorcovering Instraller program gives the apprentices a valuable head start in the trade, as well as an opportunity to practice their craft as they enter the workforce. This apprenticeship program is delivered using Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) curriculum and guidlines to ensure quality training. This is a combination of theory and shop apprenticeship and industry training to become a skilled tradesperson. You MUST be a registered apprentice with AIT (http://www.tradesecrets.gov.ab.ca) to register for this program. Your apprentice ID number (the one from your Blue Book) is required to accept your registration.

Period 2:

• 7 weeks


• Monday-Friday


• 40 hours per week


• Theory Exam

Floorcovering Installer Apprenticeship Guide:

• 2 years (two 12-month periods, each period designed to take 1-year)


• Minimum of 1500 hours on-the-job training each year


• 7 weeks of technical training each year (Period 1 & 2)


• 40 hours per week in class. Combination of Theory and Shop


• Upon Sucessful completion of Period 2 - Journeyperson Certificate


• Upon Sucessful completion of Interprovincial Exam in Period 2 (optional) - Red Seal
